Grooming in the east mountains

Dog grooming is a popular--and profitable --- business in the east mountains of Albuquerque. Lots of proud dog parents pamper their furry kids with visits to groomers for relaxing baths, desheds, nail trimming, and grooming.
One such business has gotten off to a great start at the Cactus Mall in Moriarty.
The idea for Wash Deez Mutts came to Mariah Worley after she had her first kid and got tired of commuting to Albuquerque, never seeing little Oliver. She wanted to continue grooming dogs but wanted to do it closer to home.
Mariah found a kindred spirit in sister-in-law Christian Thomas, a young mother of four who liked the idea of getting a break from her kids as she helped with the business, earned a little money and learned how to groom dogs. I think most parents understand that motivation.
So they jumped right in. Mariah's original thought was to buy a van, gut it, and make it into a traveling salon, like a food truck. When that became logistically difficult, they started in the home garage.
There began a whirlwind of learning -- how to run a business, get along with coworkers, build a client base, and lots of dog hair.
The business took off quickly and they soon realized they needed a better space. Moriarty has several tiny strip malls, many of them old motels, that would work well for the salon. That's how Wash Deez Mutts at the Cactus Mall came to be.
Since then, it's been a wild adventure but a good one. Wash Deez Mutts is about community, and the east mountain community loves their dogs. It's a perfect match. The result is a community of happy dogs, their pet parents and their local groomer.
Mariah is expecting baby #2 soon. Daniel, her husband, and Christian are preparing to cover the work so she can take it easier. It's all good.
So text Wash Deez Mutts, find them on social media, schedule an appointment. If you mention this blog post, get a $5 discount. You will be happy with the results.
Support local business. Be kind. Until next time... peace...
